Editorial methodology and sources

Scope

FarmingLand.ca is a national, cross-crop editorial reference on Canadian agricultural land. We publish orientation, structure and question sets. We do not publish land prices, yields, rental rates, soil ratings, market forecasts or invented listings. When numbers are relevant, we link to the primary source that publishes them.

Sources

Our primary sources include Statistics Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, provincial ministries of agriculture and environment, provincial water and land authorities, and municipal registries. We reference statute by name and link to the current published version. We do not paraphrase statute in ways that could substitute for legal counsel.

Review

Every article carries a review date. Reviews check that linked sources still resolve, that statute names remain current, that our framing has not become misleading and that no editorial drift has occurred. Review dates record an actual editorial check; they do not imply a site visit, professional assessment or independent expert approval.

What this site is not

• FarmingLand.ca is a publication. Any future property advertisement requires owner or authorized-representative permission and visible advertiser attribution.
• Not an agrology practice. We do not diagnose soil, disease, drainage or nutrient issues.
• Not a law firm. We do not draft contracts or interpret statute for specific transactions.
• Not a tax or accounting practice. We do not provide tax or accounting counsel.
• Not a lender. We do not underwrite or arrange financing.
• Not an investment advisor. We do not evaluate returns.

Distinguishing editorial from advertising

Where FRSH Agriculture properties reference each other — CanolaFields.ca, CropSeeds.ca, SeedPrices.ca — we identify the relationship. Advertisements must be clearly labelled and kept distinct from independent editorial work. Sponsors cannot purchase an editorial conclusion.

Illustrations and land studies

Our land studies explain how to ask better questions about land. They are not advertised parcels or completed transactions. Original AI-assisted landscape illustrations are labelled as editorial illustrations; they are not documentary photographs of specific properties. We do not invent advertisers, clients, sale results or property availability.

Sources and independence

We create original writing and use permitted public evidence for factual claims. We do not imply sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation from a source reference. Mapping and statistical sources retain their own dates, scale, geography and limitations.

Corrections

If you find a factual error, an outdated statutory reference or a broken source link, please write to us via the contact page. We correct in-place with a revised review date on the affected page.
